Micah brings a passion for creating public value, and advancing the common good, having spent the past two decades advocating to, learning about, advising, and operating various levels of government. 

Before forming GovStrategist, Micah provided advice and tools to local governments as a Director of Solutions Engineering at OpenGov, connecting over one hundred governments with modern software purpose-built to power more effective and accountable operations and services. 

The bulk of Micah’s experience lies in transforming governments from the inside. In total, Micah carries over 15 years of experience in the public sector in roles ranging from budget and finance, human resource and strategic management, operations, and advocacy.

Over a four-year period as Budget Director for the City of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Micah successfully overhauled the City’s budget technology and processes, and modernized budget office staffing in service of providing relevant and actionable budget and policy recommendations. As Chief Financial Officer for the State of Minnesota’s Department of Administration, he reorganized financial operations to increase efficiency and employee engagement alike. In all roles he’s embraced change while driving for a better tomorrow.

Micah holds a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs and a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from the University of Nebraska.
